BusinessWeek's 2006 list of the top 25 most innovative companies, and Apple is at the top of the list. Apple earned its number one status again thanks to the success of the iPod. Innovation consultant, Larry Keeley, commented "To launch the iPod, Apple used no fewer than seven types of innovation. They included networking (a novel agreement among music companies to sell their songs online), business model (songs sold for a buck each online), and branding (how cool are those white ear buds and wires?)."
After Apple, the top five innovators are Google, 3M, Toyota, and Microsoft.
The list is derived from a survey of more than 1,000 senior managers from around the world.
